Steve Ajayi

Physiotherapist | Founder & Clinic Director

Steve Ajayi is the Founder and Clinic Director of Zenith Physiotherapy & Wellness and a physiotherapist, clinical mentor and healthcare leader with more than 28 years of experience across Nigeria, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Canada.

Throughout his career, Steve has worked across public healthcare, private practice and sports rehabilitation, developing a broad international perspective on patient care, rehabilitation and clinical leadership. Today, he balances an active clinical practice with mentoring physiotherapists and leading Zenith’s growing multidisciplinary rehabilitation team in Airdrie.

Steve earned his Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Limerick, Ireland. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Management and Leadership from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. His postgraduate clinical training includes Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy, Functional Dry Needling/IMS, McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), Mulligan techniques and other approaches to orthopaedic and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

Steve has a particular interest in the assessment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions, including acute and persistent pain, sports injuries, motor vehicle accident injuries, and pre- and post-operative rehabilitation. His approach begins with understanding the person behind the injury. He combines detailed clinical assessment and reasoning with evidence-informed treatment, hands-on therapy, therapeutic exercise and patient education. He places particular emphasis on helping patients understand what is contributing to their symptoms, what they can do about it, and how they can take an active role in their recovery.

With more than two decades of clinical experience, Steve recognizes that no two patients or recoveries are exactly alike. Treatment is therefore individualized around each person’s condition, goals, lifestyle and stage of recovery. His goal extends beyond reducing pain. He works with patients to restore movement and function, rebuild confidence, and return to the work, sport, family activities and everyday experiences that matter to them.

Founder, Leader & Clinical Mentor

Steve founded Zenith Physiotherapy & Wellness in 2017 with a vision of creating more than simply a place where patients receive treatment. He wanted to build a clinic where excellent clinical care, genuine human connection and an exceptional patient experience could exist together and where healthcare professionals could be supported to continually learn, collaborate and grow.

That vision continues to shape Zenith today.

From its beginnings as a physiotherapy clinic, Zenith has grown into an established multidisciplinary practice bringing together Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Registered Massage Therapists and a dedicated clinical support and administrative team serving Airdrie and surrounding communities.

Steve remains actively involved in the clinical and professional development of the team. He has a particular passion for mentorship, clinical reasoning, continuing education and creating opportunities for clinicians to learn from one another. He believes that building a great healthcare organization starts with investing in its people.

For clinicians joining Zenith, that means being part of an environment where questions are encouraged, knowledge is shared, professional development is valued and experienced clinicians help support the growth of those around them. It also means having the opportunity to work collaboratively alongside professionals from different disciplines while developing their own clinical identity and areas of expertise.

For Steve, mentorship is not about creating clinicians who practise exactly as he does. It is about helping clinicians develop the knowledge, confidence, judgement and independence to become exceptional practitioners in their own right.

That philosophy connects the two sides of his work: When clinicians are supported to become exceptional, patients receive exceptional care.

Away from physiotherapy and clinic leadership, Steve is an avid soccer fan and enjoys outdoor activities, travelling and experiencing different cultures. Most importantly, he values spending time with his wife and two daughters.
